International Radio release for Skin Too FewNovember 2025
LIVE PERFORMANCE IN 2025
October 27th 2025.
Hello Groovers and shakers, it has been a longtime between sets for Ill Starred Captain and you can catch the band live at The Beerfarm on 27th December 2025. Down in the moister Southern regions of Western Australia you will find this fine establishment, being a place for all good folks, culture, dogs n bare feet with quality food, music and beverages.
It will be good to see you there and we will be featuring songs from Ill Starred Captain's album 'Get Lucid ", which is now mastered for release. The fun begins collating all the artwork and setting it free into the great big world. It has taken a while to reach this point on the project and that is the beauty of being independent. You can have a real life too while being a working musician in its many forms.
Let’s say forty Nullarbor road crossings with some planes and six years long service leave in between a decade of visits to see Dave Lokan at the studio. That is what recorded this album as we worked to life's clock and it now feels right to move as Scott Bassham, Justin Francis (Seawitch Music) and Dave Lokan from (Bigsound Recordings) have all finally signed off on the ‘Get lucid’ Studio work.
The album due in 2026 is eleven tracks landing in at 42 mins in length. There are another nine tracks for later, which will begin residence in the Ill-Starred Captain recording vault. With twenty-five years of work, our main mission was to invest in Quality studio recordings that are available on the bands Seawitch Music label. With our recent requests to remove two streaming companies from our studio catalogue, you can enjoy quality digital audio of Ill Starred Captain's music at,
Ill Starred Captain have always toured their music live out in the bigger oceans of the world as an unknown audience every night makes you work harder to entertain and survive the show together. It is a cold canvas with your original music every night on stage where we learned to perform music with musicianship that connects people together.
Here's cheers to the few who feel otherwise as we never had an arts grant and you usually got in our way of steady progress. We always make and play our own music, and we have achieved this as we welcome in twenty-five years. Ill Starred Captain were never just a touring pub band with all the various venues we performed in both at home and internationally.
With diversity from the venues and with other performing songwriters and musicians at shows, Pub gigs were a means to an end financially where original music became accepted overtime. Pubs as music venues are still not classed as part of the industry where Ill Starred Captain can proudly say we were audited by A.P.R.A. ‘One Music’ who were curious with the unusual number of live gigs performed across Australia back in 2015 and prior.
Not bad for an unknown independent music act while Australia does have the great FM Pub band radio royalty decades old playlist. Those great songs came from the Aussie pubs who still have original music in them today so do not be shy if you are a songwriter looking to perform while other venues are full of other interesting music.
Our musicianship and friendly nature shared with good people is what gave the band a sound of its own that stands on two feet individually. If the band is performing live or in the studio, Ill Starred Captain is Ill Starred Captain, AKA Scott Bassham & Justin Francis. I am proud that in 2026 we will be celebrating five albums across twenty-five years and that we went to work as a real band.
Always on our own and with no interest from the industry and we were content with this while busy being ourselves. A real band deals with real people and staying connected with you is important because without fans it would be an empty dance floor and silent speakers. When the passion for music is shared together or listening alone, then we all get a tangible experience.
If you would like to send us an email to stay connected, we are re igniting our fan base to bring Ill Starred Captain to twenty-five years old. Feel free to share a story you experienced one time in Ill Starred Captain Bandcamp, as history has some classic tales to share and we would love to hear from you soon.
As we head to a time to reshape our digital pathways and normal life with our latest music and a treasure trove of golden oldies to share, thank you for taking the time to read this. It is also time to begin work on the bands international network for our studio albums, so you will not be missing out if residing abroad. Australia is always here and always was so in the Greenwich meantime look here for more information and to keep UpToDate visit.
Thank you for supporting Ill Starred Captain as part of your life and I am going to disappear for the Summer, to re-emerge with new art and music while we ‘Get Lucid on the transcendental.’ We are here to deliver you a tangible experience when you hear Ill Starred Captain’s music into the future. Take Care groovers and stay connected people as life offline is real, just like these film clips.”
25th January 2025 Ill Starred Captain Performs "Cracks" from the GET LUCID Album Live, Acoustically at The House of GRAND CASUAL Esperance Western Australia
After re visiting back catalogue and playing the songs acoustically, one song in particular seemed fitting to perform live on camera, being 'Cracks', a tune that goes twenty years back to Ireland. This year 'Cracks' will be part of an album titled 'Get Lucid' as Ill Starred Captain aim for a vinyl release to celebrate their twenty five years of independence. A few miles for a mile stone and we hope you enjoy the music and thanks for your support.
Cheers
